Short Descriptive

The sun glowed overhead, pounding down on us relentlessly, though not with malice. The warmth was a comforting reminder to these lazy days that presided over our lives when school was out. Sweat dripped down the back of our necks, trickling along sensitive skin and causing hair to cling to me.

The radio blared Sublime's,"Summertime" as we lounged on the hot concrete steps. A bee droned in the grass on my front lawn, and my friends and I lay wrapped in the warm spell of summer laziness. The clean heavy air filled our lungs and noses with scents from trees, rain, mowed grass, and blooming flowers. The soft caress of even the breeze seemed a slow, lazy thing. Birds whistled quiet tunes from time to time, and squirrels chattered at each other angrily, racing across trees from limb to limb.

The sky was a clear soft blue, dotted with cottony clusters of clouds. The bee had slowly drifted over to hover above my head for a moment then moved on to find a more promising blossom.
