The world wraps me up inside its arms

The world wraps me up inside its arms, curls around and me and holds me deep within its embrace. It pulls me deeper into the spinning cyclone of wonder, the eternally twirling dance of humanity. Outside the chill air nips at my cheeks, dances across my eyes, brings tears to them and freezes them, but I still feel warm inside. I hold that little bit of warmth, the spark of life to my chest, clutch it tightly as the wind teases my hair, and plays across my fingertips and nose.

The sky is clear of clouds and full of soft powdery blue. Sunlight shifts across bare tree limbs and mottled green and brown earth. Puffs of warmth fill the air, coming from the mouths of people and the mouths of buildings. The distinct smell of winter combats the gentle hint of spring that looms just beyond the boundaries of recognition.

It all carries with it a sharp clarity that is paradoxically accompanied by a vague sense of hazy mystery. Bite your tongue unless you scare the little creature away, but make just enough motion to draw its attention in your direction. Mother Nature is a silly girl who likes to play with us, but only on her terms.
