Staring out the window
Staring out the windows
watching leaves turn colors
watching grass be green
and slowly stop growing
as cold touches the air
and the sky takes on its coat of gray
watching and waiting
waiting for starlight
and the moon to shine
and your eyes to be the sky,
your mouth to be the moon,
your skin to be my earth.
Dying inside myself
waiting until i can move
watching leaves drop down
and rain drops down windows
and tears drop down cheeks
shed for joy of life
heavy cool reminder of life
and soft like your skin
gentle as your breath,
steady as your heart
strong as your arms
the earth keeps moving
the night envelopes
and i lay me down
to dream one more night
of you
until i'm back home
where you are
wherever you go
it will be home
once i am with you
watching leaves turn colors
watching grass be green
and slowly stop growing
as cold touches the air
and the sky takes on its coat of gray
watching and waiting
waiting for starlight
and the moon to shine
and your eyes to be the sky,
your mouth to be the moon,
your skin to be my earth.
Dying inside myself
waiting until i can move
watching leaves drop down
and rain drops down windows
and tears drop down cheeks
shed for joy of life
heavy cool reminder of life
and soft like your skin
gentle as your breath,
steady as your heart
strong as your arms
the earth keeps moving
the night envelopes
and i lay me down
to dream one more night
of you
until i'm back home
where you are
wherever you go
it will be home
once i am with you
