Goodbye My Love
All was lost in that singular transaction of inevitable temptation, the chorus sang it's final notes as the curtain lowered and closed off the stage to the night. Quickly we realize in the moment that all was lost; the words said never to be taken back to the heart. The knife we pull from our chest glistens still as it falls to the floor. Our only salvation, the few drops of red that stain the tapestry of our soul.
We question the motive that led us to this dank place. An inescapable prison that lacks a door. No key to be gained for our departure towards sanity. Barely begun have I scratched the surface, each blind step taken in fear for the pressure that builds slowly, and inexorably towards an end without promise.
Innocence is a little jigsaw piece that never truly fits in the puzzle. While we may find that we lose that extension to ourselves, we never understand the cost to bear such a sin in our pride. Never can we be so untouched by fate or life, so we close ourselves off from the reality. Only to fall farther still.
