Upon Your Shore

I walked along this road for so long.
I found myself thinking thoughts I'd never wondered before.
I walked forever until I reached your shore.
Upon this glorious beach, with its watercolor and pastel beauty,
I lost myself in the remainder of what was.
On these ageless white sands I came to rest my weary head
And absorb the warmth of the years that pass.
I came to rest my head against these tiny grains, and listen
To the restless rhythms of the jealous ocean.
I hear it weeping in its frustration, and know it's pain,
As I too pound on your shores
Forever rolling in and out, sometimes stretching closer to land,
But always just short of your sun warmed glory.
Would that I could be the sun upon your shores, and touch
Each single grain with alien warmth.
